At okoHaus, we’ve been proud supporters of Suffolk Wildlife Trust for some time. This September, we’re taking things up a notch by entering the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon to raise funds for the Trust.
Last year, we tackled the walking challenge as a team. It was great fun and brought us together for a good cause.
This time, we’re taking it up a step (or should that be several thousand steps?) with two team members: John and Robert, who will be running the half marathon.

The race starts at Portman Road stadium, home of Ipswich Town FC, and winds out of town along the waterfront and Cliff Lane, before turning at Freston and returning via Worcester Road and Grafton Way, finishing back at the stadium.
The event is open to runners of all experience levels, which makes it the perfect fit for John and Robert, who are both passionate about the biodiversity and nature recovery work led by Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
okoHaus founder John Lewis says training is going well. He’s using the Runna App to guide his schedule, which has made planning much easier. He’s already clocking up 25 km a week and aims to build stamina over the next two months.
Robert, on the other hand, is taking it all in his stride. He admits he’s not running much but is logging plenty of hours on his road bike. His confidence might come from having completed full marathons before.
John, in contrast, has only ever run 10 km in an event setting.
Our involvement in the Ipswich Half Marathon is just one example of the brilliant activities Suffolk Wildlife Trust supports, and we’re keen to raise as much as possible.
