Managing Director
John
1. What do you enjoy most about your role at okoHaus?
The variety of every day and project. We are constantly finding new perspectives on how we can improve and having to think about the best solution for a certain scenario.
2. Why is sustainability important to you?
Sustainability for me is about making sensible decisions now to positively impact the long term. That can impact everything from the products we choose to supply, to how we run the business.
3. If you had to describe your job in three words, what would they be?
Fun, challenging, rewarding
4. What’s one project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
We are constantly working on projects that I am proud of, but the ones that stand out the most are those where we have received multiple future referrals. I feel really proud of our team when we receive referrals from customers. To give a referral is a really personal thing, showing the customers really trust us.
5. What’s one piece of advice you’d give homeowners looking to make their homes more energy-efficient?
I would say to focus on a ‘fabric first’ approach to your project. The fabric of the building needs to perform well for the long term, since this is the part of the building that is hardest to change later. In the life of the building you might change kitchens and bathrooms several times, but hopefully never need to change the external fabric (walls, floors, roof and of course windows).
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
I am currently doing a lot of running in preparation for the Ipswich Half Marathon. I also enjoy cycling and in the summer a lot of camping trips with my young family.

Finance Director
Kristina
1. What do you enjoy most about your role at okoHaus?
I like the people we work with – our amazing colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
2. Why is sustainability important to you?
There are lots of reasons, but mainly I want my children to grow up in a beautiful, clean environment and without sustainability this would not be possible.
3. If you had to describe your job in three words, what would they be?
Varied, number heavy and interesting (to me).
4. What’s one project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
As finance director I am not really involved in our customers' projects, so I would say the project I am most proud of was the ‘project’ to start directly employing our installation team, kitting out their vans with tools and materials and branding. This has really paid off for us and given us the ability to create a more cohesive culture.
5. What’s one piece of advice you’d give homeowners looking to make their homes more energy-efficient?
Do your research; investing upfront will pay off and save money in the future whilst creating a more enjoyable home. For example, the price difference between double and triple glazing might be less than you think, so it is worth getting the comparison quotes.
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
Pretty standard stuff – I love spending time with my family and friends, travelling and going to the gym. My new hobby is sourdough baking, and I am happy to share my starter with anyone who is interested.

Come to okoHaus for all the advice you need for a more energy-efficient home when it comes to your windows and doors.
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to follow Liverpool FC and go to as many games as possible. I also enjoy spending family time making memories with my children and two grandchildren.

Varied, creative, engaging.
4. What’s one project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
I’m proud of our Brakenwood Crescent project. It’s only a small refurbishment project, but it’s the first project I was involved in from the very first showroom visit, prepared the quote, followed up with the client, surveyed, ordered and was there at the end for the positive client feedback!

Prioritise core elements such as insulation and airtightness.

Project Manager
Robert
1. What do you enjoy most about your role at okoHaus?
I am passionate about architectural design. I enjoy working with customers and architects to provide product solutions that enhance their designs.
2. Why is sustainability important to you?
I believe we should all work towards protecting the environment around us and promote higher building standards in the UK. Sustainable building and design should strive to benefit natural ecosystems and improve our health and wellbeing.
3. If you had to describe your job in three words, what would they be?
Technical, precision, variety.
4. What’s one project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
Our Secretaries project in Bures. Using Velfac frames to create clerestory ribbon glazing, the challenge was to line the clerestory frames up with the doors and windows which were positioned below whilst incorporating corner junctions. A lot of work went into the design and sizing of all the glazed units, but it was all worth it in the end when all frame sightlines lined up perfectly.
5. What’s one piece of advice you’d give homeowners looking to make their homes more energy-efficient?
Fabric first. Using the correct materials to maximise the performance of the envelope (walls, roof, windows & doors) of your home will pay you back in the future.
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy pushing myself to the limit in all sports – in particular cycling, skiing, tennis and a love/hate relationship with running.
