1. Arrival and Identification

Our team does all the necessary preparation to ensure a smooth start to a new build or refurbishing project. For new builds, once presented with the window opening and having delivered the windows in a timely and safe manner on their pallets, our team will start matching the windows to their appropriate openings whether they are blockwork, brick wall, cavity wall (the UK standard), or others.

2. Measurements and Preparation

Once we have identified the correct windows and openings, our expertly trained team will then take the required measurements, prep the windows on trestle tables to make sure nothing gets scratched or cracked, and fix brackets around the outside of the window. This process is incredibly sensitive, but once again, the training our installers receive, and their familiarity with the products we supply, give them an undeniable advantage.

3. Installation

Once the external brackets have been fitted and the windows have been lifted, tolerance packers are used to smoothly and precisely fit the window plumb into its opening. Using the tolerance packers correctly guarantees the long shelf life of our high-performance windows for the 10-12 year warranty, but you can expect the windows to last up to 60+ years, particularly our aluminium-clad windows.

4. Sealing

For our high-performance windows, we use high-performance seals for the gaps between the window frame and the wall. Sealing might be the most important stage of our installation process, as correct air tightness is paramount for commercial and domestic projects. Depending on the air-tightness requirements of our clients, we may use:

• A Two-Part Seal: This includes flexible Compriband and a high-performance expanding foam. Compriband is a more flexible and sustainable material than your average silicone, as it produces less waste and naturally expands to fit the window-wall tolerance gap. The high-performance foam has excellent thermal performance and U-value, which helps it achieve a higher weather rating and maintain its flexibility.

• A Three-Part Seal: Our three-part sealing process includes the aforementioned Compriband and foam, but also adds a layer of internal air-tightness membrane. The membrane is flexible for super tight spaces and its major advantage is that it’s vapour-permeable, but not air-permeable. This means it can allow trapped water and humidity in the window gap to escape whilst maintaining high levels of air tightness.

5. Finishing

For new builds, our team has one final stage of fitting the aluminium cill flashing that covers the external wall. This ensures a polished and weather-resistant finish that will help protect your windows for years and decades to come.

With VELFAC installations, a special installation sequence is required for render facades to fit the render before the window installation, which adds a bit of time to the process.
