In the latest episode of our YouTube series, John Lewis, founder of okoHaus, visits Cransford in Suffolk to oversee the installation of a large Velfac Ribo lift & slide door. This rural Suffolk project is particularly interesting for okoHaus, as it involves the extensive renovation of an ancient timber-framed building.

The client selected Rationel windows alongside Velfac to achieve a finish that respects the character of the old while taking full advantage of modern performance. This Cransford project is a strong example of the sustainable, high-performance windows and doors that okoHaus specialises in.

Rationel and Velfac were chosen for their aluminium-clad timber frames, which offer excellent insulation. The Rationel AuraPlus windows installed here are triple-glazed. In the video, you’ll also see the Velfac Ribo lift & slide door being positioned by our skilled team using the SmartLift. This particular window spans five metres and weighs 620 kilogrammes. Yet with the SmartLift and our experienced team, installation appears effortless.

We’re collaborating closely with other contractors on this project, including Chapel Properties, based in nearby Woodbridge. By managing the installation of the Rationel and Velfac products ourselves, we ensure the end client gains the maximum benefit from these exceptionally high-quality windows and doors.

In this latest YouTube episode, we highlight some of the finer design details, such as innovative trickle vents and restrictors, that make these windows safer, more energy-efficient, and simple to operate. We also feature one of the fire escape windows installed as part of this project.

We love working on projects like this. It’s a chance to blend heritage with modern performance, helping the client raise the bar in terms of sustainability and environmental harmony with the surrounding landscape.

If you're planning a renovation, do get in touch to find out how we can help.
